The
panel winds up
In
the last post we had established our two waterlines on the plan
drawing.
Now
we can take of the length of each on the waterlines in the same
manner that we took of the length of the bottom panels and transfer
those measurements to the new waterlines.
In
the picture below the cyan line is station 5 on the plan drawing and
we take our measurements from that station working forward and then
aft for each water line.
Where
the circles cut the waterlines we make a tick mark.
And
then join the tick marks to make new stations lines and extend them
beyond the waterlines. You will notice that the stern has been
drawn in and you can do the same for the bow.
Once
those lines are drawn then you can start to take the measurements
above and below the waterlines from the section drawing.
And
transfer them to the waterline section line intersections. Then get
the above and below measurements for the transom from the developed
transom panels and transfer those to the waterline transom
intersections.
Once
that is done you can join all the intersections in fair curves and,
Bob's your uncle, a developed panel.
Erase
all the unnecessary lines and circles and you have the panel ready to
be dimensioned.
It
took longer to describe this than to do it.
Next
time we'll take a look at developing twisted panels and V-bottoms
